Partnering

Partnering for the Future

The Oregon-Columbia Chapter of NECA and IBEW Local 48 work together in an award-winning partnership to provide Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington with reliable, high-quality, cost-effective electrical work.

The concept behind partnering stems from the agreement that the economic consequences of conflict between labor and management is harmful to communities and business. Believing these situations can be prevented, the Oregon-Columbia Chapter of NECA and IBEW Local 48 work together on issues of mutual interest in an effort called ‘partnering.’

Partnering is a commitment to the success of the entire team: labor, management, and our customers. Through partnering, we identify and resolve challenges before they become a problem — which results in better service. Other benefits of partnering include improved competitiveness, increased market share, enhanced safety, and improved morale for everyone, including the customer.

Partnering enables us to continually meet challenges and compete effectively in our marketplace — and to ensure that we do it together, as an industry.

Through our partnering efforts, the Oregon-Columbia Chapter of NECA and IBEW Local 48:

  • Fund an award-winning Apprenticeship Training Program and  state-of-the-art Training Center — with NO taxpayer dollars.
  • Negotiate collective bargaining contracts quickly and smoothly.
  • Develop programs that provide advantages for workers, communities, and business — including health and retirement programs, safety programs,  and programs that establish professional standards.
  • Provide a model for other NECA chapters and IBEW locals throughout the nation.
  • Serve our community through public service activities and community events.
